I’ve been creating small kites that fly!
I draw the designs by hand, and lovingly screen print small editions at Second State Press, a fantastic community print shop in Philadelphia’s Kensignton neighborhood.
The pictured kite is based on a traditional vietnamese shape, and it is made of Tyvek with a bamboo frame. The sail image is a pair of rowhomes that share a wall on Clearfield Street in the Port Richmond neighborhood of Philadelphia, where I live. I look forward to depicting more Philly places, and exploring a variety of kite forms as I continue this work.
You can hang this kite on the wall as art, you can take it to the beach and fly it, or you can get two and do both! See you at Cherry Street Pier!
